Rubycon America
Rubycon first came to life in 1952 in Japan as Nihon Denkai Seisakusho and the Rubycon trademark was grabbed in 1953 when the company moved its offices to Tokyo. The founder was Teruo Tonouchi (who passed away in 2017 at age 99). Rubycon is one of the original pioneers in the aluminum capacitor market and is one of the largest suppliers of miniature electrolytic capacitors.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s the company had a number of name changes and acquired over 10 companies to add to their growth. In 1979, Rubycon America was established. Rubycon customers include electric / electronic equipment manufacturers, EMS (electronics manufacturing services), distributors, trading companies, and others.
Rubycon manufactures components used in industrial equipment, renewable energy, automotive, power supply, computer, lighting, and communication equipment. The company has offices throughout Asia and Europe as well as the United States. In October 2011, Rubycon Corporation expressed support for the universal principles about Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption upheld by the United Nations, and officially joined the UN Global Compact.
Rubycon acquired its ISO14001 certification in 1999 and its ISO/TS16949 certification in 2006 and became OHSAS18001 certified in 2018.
